Lora Kennedy, age 100 of Crystal City, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at her residence. She was born September 6, 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Dora (nee Jamison) and Frank Kanaday.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James A. Kennedy; sons James A. (the late Barbara) Kennedy, Jr. and Terrence Kennedy; brothers Harry, Louis, Seldon and Joseph Kanaday; and sisters Dolores Nall, Wilma McKinney and Lahoma Golbert.
She is survived by daughter Jeanette (Donald) Caruthers of DeSoto, Missouri; sons Roy (Charlotte) Kennedy of Bonne Terre, Missouri and David (Betty) Kennedy of Crystal City; grandchildren James A. Kennedy III, Rosalie (Curtis) Tucker, Lorren Kennedy, Kimberly (Darrel) Hamman, Evan Kennedy, Darren Kennedy, Cherie (Don) Frey, Lynn (Darryl) Keeney, Wendy (Peter) Roth, Roy L. (Jessica) Kennedy Jr., Melissa (Mike) Coppedge, Denise (Rob) Tidwell, Donnie Caruthers, Karen (Eugene) West, Heather Davis and Benjamin D. (Jessica) Kennedy; great-grandchildren Amber (Lestel) Rushing, Tiffani Tucker, Darren Kennedy Jr., Brandon Kennedy, Collin Kennedy, Alyssa Kennedy, Alanna Kennedy, Aleah Kennedy, Adriana Kennedy, Andrew Perry, Amanda Hamman, Darrel Hamman, Tyler Hamman, Connar Hamman, Melody Hamman, Destney Frey, Keely Frey, Sumer Davis, Tanner Davis, Walker J. Chandler, Cohen Kennedy, Laine Kennedy, identical triplets Reed, Finn and Knox Kennedy, Rachel Jones, Darryl Keeney Jr., Oriana Kennedy, Elijah Kennedy, Jeremiah Kennedy, Lindsey (Stacy) Tomlinson, Justin Caruthers, Jordan (Precious) Caruthers, Michael (Brittany) Coppedge, Chelsea (Wade) Sides, Felicia Spain, Eithen Whitter, April (Corey) McKeen and Robbie Tidwell, Dylan and Tony Roth; and great-great-grandchildren Brinley Alford, Scarlett Jones, Lexus Keeney, Lathan Sheppard-Kennedy, Brodie Coppedge, Alyssa Coppedge, Eli Sides, Ella Sides, Justin Caruthers, Mallory Caruthers, Hunter DeRousse, Ricky Wilson, Peyton Walker, Noah Caruthers, Nevaeh Caruthers, Terry Rushing, Lillian Rushing, Hunter Rushing, Hadessah Hamman and Michael Moore III.
She had worked at Kennedy's Bi-Rite grocery in Herculaneum, Missouri and Kennedy's Boarding Home in Crystal City.
Visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 10, 2017 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, Missouri. Funeral services 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Alan Smith of Viburnum, Missouri. Interment in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials in her memory are preferred to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
